Dear NAWCC Member, Enclosed is your registration form for this years Pacific Northwest Regional. Your board has made the innovative decision to hold the Regional in an special area of the Antique & Collectible Show at the Portland Expo Center on July 15 & 16. This type of collaboration may be a part of the future of the Watch & Clock industry. The idea is to bring new buyers and sellers into a very strong existing event, taking advantage of added customers and those with an interest in watches and clocks.
Christine Palmer & Associates produces six vintage shows per year but the July event is by far and away the strongest, bringing many buyers from every state in the country and Asia and other countries. The Regional will be in its own area, separated by pipe & drape from the general show. And just to assure you, CPA does not own the show or anything close. We are simply taking some of the hard work away from the volunteers in the chapter and adding the Regional to our advertising budget, which is about $80,000. We have a mailing list in the tens of thousands who receive a postcard and an email in addition to our broadcast, print, digital and public relations advertising. This decision was over a year in the making. Chapter president Jeff Eastwood has participated in two shows so he could see what was possible. In addition, two other board members attended our last show in March and took a look at the area that the Regional would be held in. All have the feeling that this could assure a vital and healthy Watch & Clock Regional.
Hotels: Naturally, hotels in the Portland area in July are at a premium. Thanks to Travel Portland, we have secured room blocks in two hotels in the area. Both have cut-off dates of June 21, so it’s important to make your reservation as soon as possible. They are: The Rodeway Inn. This hotel is opening in early April so it will be brand new and is within a couple of miles of the Expo Center. The way to reserve is to call 971.754.4570. The rate for our group is $125 plus tax. Please identify yourself as being part of the Antique Show (we did it that way for simplicity since this hotel will be used by Antique Show attendees and exhibitors as well. Holiday Inn Airport. This one is obviously closer to the airport, which is a straight shot and about 6 miles from the Expo. To reserve, please call 503-978-4572.
We will have booking links on our website in the next day or so but in the meantime, make sure you have a room by calling as soon as possible. Both hotels have cut-off dates in mid to late June. Two weeks before the show you will receive a packet with your table location on a floor plan, your badges and a letter with all of the information needed to do the show.
